Brett, 14, a recent graduate from Marshall Middle School in Virginia has shown a great passion for aviation and aerospace throughout his life.
Growing up as a member of the United Airlines Family (his mother is a flight attendant) he took his first flight at three months of age. By kindergarten, he could identify all planes in United's fleet, including the number of wheels and emergency exits in each.
He has attended the landing of the Space Shuttle Atlantis in California in the spring of 1997, John Glenn's historic Space Shuttle launch in Florida in 1998, and the Centennial Celebration of the Wright's Brothers historic flight at Kitty Hawk in December of 2003.
He was twice an invited guest to view the old hangers at Dulles before the Udvar Hazy Center was built and visited the Space Shuttle Enterprise and the SR-71 Blackbird before they were refurbished for display. He was also present at Dulles for the last scheduled take -off of the Concorde before its retirement.
He has been an avid student of UAL Flight 232 and was fortunate to meet Capt. Al Hanes.
Brett is an honors student in science and will surely continue his love of aviation and aerospace for his lifetime.
