Inheriting a love of flying from his father, Fred W. Sells, Brian began his career with flying lessons at Jefferson County Airport in Colorado with the goal of becoming an airline pilot with United Airlines. He successfully completed the NASA approved flying training program at University of North Dakota in Fargo. While working as a flight instructor in a single engine aircraft at an airport in Knoxville, TN, he was fatally injured in a midair collision. He is greatly missed by his mother Eleanor and sister Laura.
