    BRUCE H. HINTON, Colonel, USAF, Ret, born 30 June 1919, Calistoga, CA. Enlisted as a Flying Cadet 26 December 1929. Wings and commission as 2nd Lt. at Kelly Field, 30 August 1940.
    Flight Instructor; Deputy for Training and Operations at Advanced Flying Schools. CO for 24th, 42nd, 53rd, 335th and 996th Fighter Squadron and Deputy Commander 4th Fighter Group.
    Deputy Cdr. Operations in 48th Tactical Fighter Wing; Asst. Deputy for Operations, 17th Air Force, USAFE Chief, Tactical Requirements Division, Hq. USAF.
    Served in COMUS, Panama, Alaska, Japan, Korea, France, England, and Germany.
    Retired 91 December 1965. On 2nd mission in Korea leading 4 F-6A's encountered 4 MiG-15's, shot one down, for first F-86 kill of war. At Nellis AFB, Team Captain of Fighter Weapons Teams in 1956 and 1958, winning High Team in both meets, and High Team Captain both years. At Hq. USAF headed board of personnel from TAC, USAF Hq. and DOD which layed down performance and operational requirements for a new Tactical Fighter which became the F-15.
    Awards: Legion of Merit, DFC, Air Medal, Bronze Star, various campaign medals and service ribbons.
