Served in WWI in Europe as Observer and Pilot in Signal Corps. Instructed ("officer in charge of flying") at Kelly field, TX. Was involved in planning air fields across US, was Billy Mitchell's aide. Became civilian in 1928 and worked with Curtiss Wright until retirement.
