    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    C. Stroud

Mr Stroud worked for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for over 31 years as an aerospace research engineer. He performed research on the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle heat shields. He was the leader of a team that successfully predicted the thermal performance of the Apollo heat shield. The ability to predict the reaction of the heat shield to varying thermal environments saved time and money for NASA.

In association with Donal R. Rummler performed experiments on carbon/carbon material to verify that the wing leading edges of the Space Shuttle would withstand 50 missions. This verification was a Congressional requirement before another shuttle would be funded.

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
