    Immigrated to the USA in 1964 in order to fulfill his boyhood dream of becoming a pilot, which was much more difficult in his native Switzerland. Learned to fly, and became a flight instructor in California.
    Hired by World Airways in 1972 and progressed through the B-727, DC-8 and DC-10. Also flew B-720 and B-707s overseas during furloughs. Left World Airways for UPS in 1988 and flew the B-757 and 767 until mandatory retirement at age 60.
    Lifelong safety advocate, active with industry, unions and government with emphasis on “One Level of Safety” to include all cargo operations. TCAS and Escape means on freighters as a priority.
