    Bruce Wheeler started his flying career in the Navy in 1942. He served for four years and was in the reserves until 1956.
    In April 1951, he hired on as co-pilot for United Air Lines to fly DC-4s and DC-6s. He was promoted to captain in 1960 and flew DC-6s, DC-8s and DC-10s until he retired from United Air Lines in 1984.
    He was a member of RUPA after his retirement until his death on December 2, 2003.
