Capt. Sanzenbacher began his aviation career as a cadet at the Air Force Academy where he earned his wings as a navigator. After Air Force Pilot Training he flew an array of aircraft from the Cessna 0-2 as a forward air controller to the eight engine B-52 Bomber. His career concluded in the Vietnam War and he retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel. His civilian career extended over 33 years flying as flight engineer, co-pilot and captain on United's entire fleet from four engine propeller DC-6s to international captain on the Boeing 777. He retired in 1999 after flying routes to Europe and South America. His flying career spanned over 50 years as he witnessed the transition of flight to today.
