    Captain Howard Jundt was born in Rugby, North Dakota, raised on a farm and his interest in aviation was obvious from childhood. He flew his first aircraft, a J-3 Cub, at the age of 15. He graduated from nDSU in 1955 and entered the USAF as a 2nd Lt. pilot candidate at Marana AB in Tucson, Arizona and Laredo, Texas. Capt. Jundt received his wings at Laredo AFB in June, 1956, class 56R, as a member of the first all Jet Basic training class. He flew Convairs (T-29) and T-33s at Mather Fieldin Sacramento, California before joining United Airlines in 1960. Capt. Jundt also flew the C-119 Flying Boxcar and C-121 Constellation for the Wyoming National Guard. He flew several C-121 missions to Japan and Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Capt. Jundt also served in the Civil Reserve Rescue Fleet while flying for United Airlines and flew numerous missions to Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
    Capt. Jundt's career with United Airlines included two tours of duty at the Denver Flight Training Center as a Flight Engineer Instructor (Second Officer) in 1963-1964 and as a DC-6/7 Flight Instructor from 1964-1967. He was assigned to San Francisco in 1967 and retired in September 1992 as a DC-10 Captain. Capt. Jundt flew DC-6/7, B-720, B-737, DC-8, and DC-10 during his 33 year career with United.
    Capt. Jundt is an active member of the Retired United Pilots Association and has served for several years as a member of the board of RUPA. Capt. Jundt and his wife, Patricia, reside in Saratoga, California.
