    Honored by:

    Jack competed in numerous model airplane contests during adolescence. He won
    more than 100 trophies including the 1947 Junior International Championship.
    He also won a scholarship, which paid for the first year and a half of college.
    Jack soloed at age 16 and earned his private pilots certificate at age 17.
    While in college, he completed ROTC and was awarded an USAF commission as
    a 2nd Lt
    After completing USAF flight school in 1958, he was assigned to the Air Defense
    Command as a Convair F 102 pilot at Castle AFB California. While at Castle, he
    transitioned to the Convair F 106 after his unit was assigned the new aircraft.
    His next assignment was at Elmendorf AFB flying the F 102 for the Alaskan Air
    Command.
    He completed his active duty Air Force career at Elmendorf in 1966 and began a
    flying career with Northwest Airlines. He retired at age 60 as a Captain on the
    Boeing 747 400 series aircraft after completing 28years of commercial flying.
    Jack regularly flew with the Civil Air Patrol as a mission search pilot and was
    awarded a certificate for recognition for lifesaving for outstanding humanitarian
    service.
    Jack maintains his interest in aviation and model aviation and regularly flies a
    Cessna turbo retract 182. He is a qualified mission pilot for Angel Flight.
