Air and Space Friend

Honored by:
Mr. Benedict L. Mc Alevey

John F. McAlevey was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1923. Like many in the “Greatest Generation”, he went off to war at the tender age of 21. He flew 29 combat missions as a P-51 Mustang Pilot based in England before the war ended. He went to Germany for the occupation, then returned to the States and earned a Law Degree. He served as Mayor of Sloatsburg, NY, Supervisor of the town of Ramapo, and on the board of the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority. In the meantime, he raised 7 wonderful children and stayed active in political and social causes. He is truly one of the greatest of the “Greatest Generation”.
