John was born April 25,1921. He saw a biplane fly across a snowy field at the age of 6 and knew that he wanted to fly.
Ran away from home at age 16 to work and live at an airfield in exchange for lessons.
Joined the Army Air Force in 1941 and was discharged in 1945. He was a technical sergeant in the European Theater.
He was employed for 231/2 years with Capital Airlines and United Airlines after their merger in 1961.
He was a member of the VFW, Quiet Birdmen, and RUPA.
