    Mr. John Karas

I started flying in private airplanes with my father when I was 7 years old. At the age of 9, a crewmember on a British Airways 747 let me see the cockpit in flight. From that day on, all I wanted to do was become a pilot. At the age of 16, in 1983,1 earned my private pilots license. By the age of 18, 1 had my commercial license. Over the next few years, I gained flight time in aircraft including the Piper Arrow, C-210, C-340, and Beechcraft Baron 58. In 1989, my first commercial job was towing banners on the west coast of Florida in a 1965 C-150 equipped with a STOL kit and a 200 hp engine. Starting in 1993 I flew part 135 freight for various companies, flying aircraft including the C-210, Piper Aerostar, Navajo Chieftain, C-404, and the Mitsubishi MU-2. As this is submitted in 2004, I am a Captain on a DeHavilland Dash 8 for US AIRWAYS Express/Allegheny, and a Local Executive Chairman of the Airline Pilot's Association. I hope to remain active in aviation for the rest of my life.
