    Born May 20, 1936 Martinsville, VA.
    Entered Navy flight training as NAVCAD, class 22-55H, 5 July 1955. Training aircraft flown included the T-34, T-28B, SNJ, SNB, HTL, and HUP-2. Designated Naval Aviator and Naval Helicopter Pilot #3245 12 December 1956. Assigned to HU-2, NAS Lakehurst, N J. and NAS Norfolk, VA. 1957- 1960. While deployed to various Atlantic Fleet ships during that period, completed three rescue missions and provided helicopter support for fleet activities. Qualified in the following helicopters, HUP-2, HUL, HTL, HUK, and HUS. After active duty, assigned to Naval Air Reserve squadrons Norfolk VA. 1960-1977, flying the S2F Tracker and C-9B. First Commanding Officer VR-58, NAS Jacksonville, FL. 1977-1979, providing world wide naval fleet support. Retired as Navy Captain (0-6) August 1980.
    Employed by United Airlines 27 June 1966. Based in Washington, D.C. 1966-1980. Second Officer on DC-6 and B-727, First Officer on DC-6, B-737, and DC-8. Transferred to Los Angeles, CA. then Chicago IL in 1980. Continued flying as First Officer on B-727, DC-10 and B-747. Advanced to Captain with United in May 1986. Flew Captain on B-727, B-757, B-767, and DC-10. Retired from UAL May 1996.
