After leaving the Air Corps, I worked for my Father at his airport as Flight Instructor and Airframe and Powerplant (A and P) Mechanic.
I was hired by United Airlines in January 1949. I flew as Second Officer on DC-6, DC-7 DC-8, DC-10, and B-747 and as First Officer on B-727 and DC-10. Retired June 12, 1980 as First Officer on the DC-10 after 31 years and 12,000 flight hours.
In addition, I was privileged to be in one of the first three crews to originate jet operations for United Airlines in New York.
