Martin Rowley was an early inductee to the Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP) where he qualified as a pilot and then a flight instructor. Martin then became a flight instructor in the U. S. Army Air Forces.

After the war, Martin was hired by American Airlines. His flew with American for 31 years. He retired as a captain of a Boeing 707 flying international routes. After retirement Martin became a flight instructor consultant at American Airlines headquarters in Dallas, Texas.

Blanche Gagnon was the first non-nurse stewardess with American Airlines. Her language background from her previous experience as an interpreter with the FBI solidified her hiring. After meeting Martin, Blanche resigned from American Airlines. She was a member of the Kiwi Club.

Martin and Blanche had five children. Two became captains and one became a flight attendant with three other US airlines.
