    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

I was born on a small farm in Ohio and went to a one room school my first eight hears. Airplanes was my passion early on as I built model planes all thru school. I tried to enlist in the Air Force and V-5 but wanted to so badly my blood pressure was four points too high. Ten days after graduation I was drafted in to the Marine Corps and then landed on Okinawa on April Fool's day 1945. Two and 1/2 of Marine duty I arrived home to finally start flying on the G. I. Bill.
Capital Airlines hired me Dec. 1951 flying DC-3s, 4s, 6s, 7s, Constellation Caravelle, Viscount, B72, DC-10 and the B747 for the UAL, which ended after 34 happy years.
My hobbies during this time was tennis, golf, and building two Pitts Specials and a Giles202. I flew the Pitts in Aerobatic Competition and at the moment I am rebuilding a piper J-3 Cub for my grandchildren.
