Ralph served four years in the Air Force before joining United Airlines in 1956. He retired in November of 1990 having flown 34 years and 7 months. On several occasions he brought his sons to the Smithsonian, two of whom are now pilots with Fed Ex and Sky West, all very interested in flying and space.
