After four years at Georgia Institute of Technology he began his career with Eastern Air Lines on December 17, 1956. He retired on March 2, 1989. On September 24, 1989 he began a second career with the Federal Aviation Administration. He served as an Aviation Safety Inspector in the Atlanta Flight Standards District Office overseeing air carrier operations.
