Captain Russell A. Ward was born Feb 18, 1925, in Council Bluffs, IA. Completed High School in June 1942. US Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet Class 44-B. Flew 75 photo reconnaissance missions for the 9th Air Force, European Theater of Operations.

Graduated from Oregon State College in June 1949. Was a pilot with United Airlines for 32 years: 1953-1985.
