    Thomas Victor Erickson, “Tom”, began flying lessons at a young age, paying for his flying lessons by sweeping hanger floors. He joined the USMC in 2955 and entered the Naval Air Cadet program in 1956. Tom flew as a Navy pilot and flight instructor for seven years, based at Pensacola, FL, logging hours in T-34, T-28, SNB, and hello aircraft. He joined United Airlines as a second officer in 1964 and was assigned to DC-6 and DC-8 aircraft. Tom flew as a co-pilot on 727, 720,
    DC-8 and DC-10, and 747 aircraft. Thomas Victor Erickson retired on March 28, 1994 as a 747 Captain flying international routes. His love of aviation spanned 40 years. His dedication to safety and honor was always apparent.
