    First solo at age 16, pilot’s license at 17. Served 32 years in the U.S.N. as a fighter and attack pilot. Flew A-4 Seahawks from the USS Intrepid over N. Vietnam. Commanded an A-4 Squadron aboard USS Shangri-La. have owned a number of vintage airplanes i.e.; a Cessna 195, a Grumman F8F Bearcat and an SNJ -5. Flew an F8F in the Reno Air Races 1964-1971. Also flew in the 1968 Transcontinental Air race to Reno. Founder and first president of the Warbirds of America, and organization dedicated to the preservation and flying of WWII aircraft. It is now part of the EAH and is worldwide. Currently am the safety officer of the North American Trainer Assn., a member of the American Aviation Historical Society and the EAA. Have been inducted into the EAA Warbirds Hall of Fame and co-authored a book titled Pilot Maker.
