Capt. Bennett was born in Illinois. Came up through General Aviation. Joined the Illinois State police in 1957. Flew aircraft for them when the state purchased patrol aircraft in 1959 – he was hired by Eastern Airlines. Was flying 727 Captain when the airline was dissolved. Wil then was hired by the Federal Aviation Agency and was an Air Carrier inspector for them until his retirement in 1993. He and his wife Bernice then returned to their farm at Neoponset, Illinois. Wil, besides farming, was an active “Shriner”, volunteer fireman, and has an air strip on his farm where he flew his own-built bi-plane.
