Stanley Griffiths served during World War II first as a B-17 Flying Fortress bombardier in the European Theater with the 412th Bomb Squadron, 95th Bombardment Group (Heavy). Later he transitioned to the B-29 Superfortress as a bombardier, and transferred to the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the 504th Bombardment Group (VH), Tinian, Marianas Islands.
