    Honored by:
    C. William Devaney

Charlie Devaney was the first person to own and fly an airplane in Chester County PA. He bought a crated WW I JN-4 in 1920, which he assembled and taught himself to fly on the family farm. The family farm became Paoli Mainline Airport, and a base for autogyro development, glider pilot training, and fixed wing operations. Charlie and Nick Morris founded Demorr Aero. Corp., which operated the airport from 1936 until 1950, providing flight training, aircraft sales and services. Charlie passed away in April, 1976 and Nick in April, 1981, both at the age of 76.
