    Mr. Ballard is a retired Boeing Co. Operations/ Manufacturing Executive. His early aviation interests grew as a result of his involvement with the construction 51 model airplanes. At the age of 18, he was a flight crew member with the United States Coast Guard, flying Air/Sea rescue missions. Mr. Ballard received his college education at the University of Washington. He then began his career with the Boeing Co. His first assignments were Industrial Engineering activities supporting the Minuteman Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Program. Next came the Apollo Moon Program, which Mr. Ballard became involved with in support of the Lunar Roving Vehicle.-Particularly Apollo 15. Additional assignments included the Boeing 737 Commercial Airplane Program, the NATO Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), and then supporting the U.S. Space Defense Systems activities, such as the Anti-Satellite missiles, Beam and Kinetic Energy weapons systems, and finally the B2 Stealth Bomber Program. Mr. Ballard is a licensed Private pilot and is active with organizations such as the American Model Association (AMA), Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and the Gold card chapter of the Boeing Management Association. He is also a founding Charter Navigator member of the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA. and a Charter member of Air and Space Smithsonian.
