    Colonel Christopher H. Brown was a distinguished member of the United States Air Force following his graduation from the US Air Force Academy in 1962 until his retirement on June 1, 1986. Growing up, he loved sports, was active in school and loved the idea and prospect of flying planes. He began playing golf as a young boy and played for the US Air Force Academy. Chris was also valedictorian in high school. He was a fighter pilot with over 100 missions flown in an F-105 in Viet Nam. Chris was a member of the 100 Mission Club Over North Viet Nam and the River Rats. Following his retirement, he remained as a consultant in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (ISA). In December 1986, he went to work in private industry in the Washington, D.C. area. During his 24 years of service among his many awards and medals, he was awarded the DFC, AM (12) with two Silver and one Bronze Cluster, DSSM, VSM with three Bronze Service Stars, AFCM with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Rep of Viet Nam with Palm, AFOUA with valor and two Oak Leaf Clusters, NDSM, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal. His military career included 1962 graduate of the US Air Force Academy, IP, ATC Inst, Counter Insurgency Course, Survival Training, Southeast Asia, SOS, University of Notre Dame (Master degree), Panama, AFSC, Airborne Opns Tng, Korea, Air Opns Staff Officer HQUSAF, International Political-Military Affairs Officer HQ, Country Director OASD/ISA-IA, Atlantic Council, Country Director OASD/ISA-IA (second tour). Our father enjoyed his family and life in Clifton, VA, and was an outstanding member of his community, participating in many activities. He died in September 1991. His legacy continues on through his wife, Miriam M. Brown and four children: Scott C. Brown, Alexander H. Brown, Jarret C.P. Brown and Katherine H.S. Brown (McDivitt) as well as his grandchildren. Our father was born in Carmel-by-the Sea, California, to Dr. Charles H. and Mary L. Brown. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery by the old Chapel.
