    Colonel David W. Todd entered the Army Air Forces as an Aviation Cadet in January 1943. After pilot training he flew C-47s in the European Theater, participating in Operation Varsity, the allied crossing of the Rhine River.

    After World War II (WWII), he remained in the AF Reserves, and was recalled to active duty with the Korean War. He then flew B-47s in the Strategic Air Command until 1965, and C-141s in the Military Airlift Command. He retired from active service in 1969 as a Command Pilot, Navigator, and Bombardier with over 8,000 military flying hours.
