    Mr. Test began his aviation career when he joined the United States Air Force as an Aviation Cadet in 1960. The Aviation Cadet Program trained Mr. Test as a navigator and resulted in his being commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. Mr. Test's first operational assignment was as a RC-130 navigator in Japan. While on that assignment, Mr. Test pursued his pilot license with the military aero club flying the Cessna 150, and received his private pilot license in 1965 as he was completing the assignment to Japan. Mr. Test's next assignment took him to USAF pilot training at Laredo. Texas where he graduated first in his class. Mr. Test then flew a series of fighters (F-102, F-4C/D/E/G, and F-16) over the next 21 years, including a combat tour in Vietnam. 'He also flew the C-12D (Beech King Air 200) while on a later overseas assignment. After over 27 years in the Air Force, Mr. Test retired in 1988 as a Colonel. Mr. Test then started a career in commercial aviation as a pilot flying the de Havilland Dash 8 for Henson Airlines, first as Piedmont Regional Airline and later and US Air Express. After 14 months, Mr. Test went to work for United Airlines. While with United Airlines, Mr. Test flew both domestically and internationally on various aircraft including the B-727, B-737-300/500, B-757, B-767, and B-747-400. In 1995, while flying the B-767, Mr. Test was part of a crew that set a world speed record over a commercial air route from London, England to Los Angeles. Upon retirement in 2000, Mr. Test concluded a professional flying career of nearly 40 years as a Captain on the Airbus A-320.
