Col. Jag Pal Singh was born in an affluent Indian family on Oct 29, 1929. After completing his undergraduate studies in April 1952, he was admitted to the Indian National Defense Academy, and upon graduation, was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Indian Artillery in 1954. He rose quickly through the ranks, and while a Major, was detailed to serve as an instructor in the Indian School of Artillery. Thereafter, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and given the command of an Indian Artillery Regiment in 1971. His regiment performed commendably in two border wars: one with China and the other with Pakistan. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel in 1976 and posted as Colonel in charge of Administration (Col, adm) at the Western Command Headquarters of the Indian Army. Later he was posted as the Colonel in charge of the Artillery Directorate at the Indian Army Headquarters in 1981. The following year, he was selected for the rank of Brigadier. However, he was not given the Brigade of his choice and left the Army in 1982. After his retirement from the Army, he was elected as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Singhasan Charitable Trust Foundation (SCTF) in 1983 and later elected as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 1992. During his term as the CEO of the SCTF, he also served as the Commandant of the Singhasan Security Force, with the rank of Brevet Major General. He retired from the SCTF in 2003 and passed away in 2004. He was a real war hero and an asset to his country .
