    Entered service through the Cadet Program (U.S. Air Corps) May 1942 and retired (U.S. Air Force) in May 1975. During WWII flew B-17s as Lead Crew in 8th Air Force, 94th Bomb Group, 333rd Squadron. Post WWII assignments included Special Air Mission (VIP) Squadron at Bolling AFB D.C. followed by duty as a Hurricane Hunter (36 storm penetrations) flying from Kindley Field, Bermuda. Filled Chief Pilot positions at Squadron, Wing and Division level with Military Air Transport Service (MATS). During tour with 5th Air Force (Japan) qualified in a single-engine jet aircraft. Following tours at MATS and USAF Hqs., served as U.S. Defense and Air Attaché to South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland. Graduated Air Command and Staff School and Air War College with honors. At time of retirement had flown 13,000 hours in a variety of aircraft.
