    Col. John Pelszynski served in the U. S Air Force from June 1943 to October 1976. In his 33 years of service, he accumulated over 5200 flying hours in a wide variety of aircraft. He flew B-17s out of Medelsham, England in WWII with the 8th Air Force, 93rd Wing, 34th Group, 18th Squadron. During the Berlin Airlift, he flew 263 missions out of Celle, Rhein-Main and Wiesbaden. He flew B-26s with the 5th Air Force in Korea and the 9th Air Force at Hurlburt Field, FL. His first flight in a jet aircraft occurred in a T-33 in October, 1952 and his last flight was in a VC47 at Andrews AFB in October, 1966.
