    West Coast 43 K Aviation Cadet, Pilot, 303 Bomb Group, Aircraft Command B-17, WW II, Flight leader, Molesworth, England, POW at Luft III and IIIA, Aug 1944 to May 1945. Hosted Carl Eliason’s brother and sisters at dedication of Eliason AFB, Alaska. Vietnam 1966 and 1967. Total Air Force service 28 years. Combat mission to: Saint-Lo France – breakout of D-Day landing on beach, Peenemunde V-2 manufacture, Berlin 3 times, Munich 2 times, Wiesbaden Luftwaffe base, numerous other missions over Germany. On Aug 15, 1944, was on the mission shown in the oil painting of B-17s in the Air and Space Museum. I remember the Aug 15, 1944 mission very well. We had no USAF fighter cover that day. I was shot down and became a POW in Luft III, Sagan, Poland.
