    A U.S. Army Master Aviator, Colonel Thomas E. Anderson accumulated nearly 6000 military and civilian flying hours during his career, of which over 1000 hours were logged during combat missions in Vietnam. He was commissioned in 1952 from the University of Montana ROTC and earned his wings in 1954. His flying career included qualification in over 24 different types and models of fixed wing, helicopter and sailplane aircraft.
    In the early days of the Vietnam conflict, he commanded a combat helicopter company which, when deployed to Vietnam in 1964, served as the vanguard unit for the massive U. S. buildup in Southeast Asia. On his second combat tour in Vietnam he commanded a 1400-man aviation battalion. He later managed the Army's 14,000 man Aviation Warrant Officer personnel program His U.S. aviation decorations include two Distinguished Flying Crosses and 27 awards of the Air Medal.
    Colonel Anderson's participation in aviation activities has spanned half a century. A lifetime member of the Army Aviation Association of America, he served in both local and national positions within the organization. His dedication to the advancement of aviation, and his commitment to furthering interest in, and appreciation, knowledge and enjoyment of, aviation by the American public, is acknowledged by his recognition on this Wall of Honor.
