Major Darrell L. Williams (Retired) was born in Saigon, Vietnam on December 11th, 1969. He joined the US Army as a Helicopter Repairer in 1987. He served in Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. In 1996, he graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and received his commission from The US Air Force ROTC. He graduated from the US Air Force Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1998. His first flight assignment was Minot, North Dakota, flying the B-52H Stratofortess. He transferred to The US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2001 and became an Instructor Pilot in numerous training aircraft: The TG-4 and TG-10 Gliders, the TG-7 and TG-14 Motorgliders, the Cessna 150, and T-41D. In 2005, he reported to Whiteman AFB as the Security Manager for the B-2 Stealth Bomber Combat Training Squadron and flew the T-38A Talon. He deployed for a 365-day assignment to Baghdad, Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2008. Upon return to the United States, he was assigned back to the B-52 and became an Aircraft Commander in 2011. He then retired from the US Air Force in 2012. His military decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award with 2 oak leaf clusters, and a Good Conduct Medal. He has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, Far East Relations and a Masters Degree in International Relations, National Security. Just after retirement, he began work as a Contractor as a Project Manager. In 2015, he became a NASA Protective Services Special Agent at the Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He is an FAA Certified Flight Instructor. He enjoys flying and spending time with his three beautiful daughters.
