    Born on 25 December 1919 in Bluefield , W. VA. Graduated Logan High School (1937). Graduated Logan High School (1937) and Virginia Polytechnic Institute 1941. Commissioned through ROTC 1941 and completed military flying training at Kelly Field, TX March 1942. During WWII in the Panama Canal Zone and the Southwest Pacific Theatres as a B-17 pilot flying 46 combat missions before returning to the USA to train combat crews in B-24s, B-32s and B-29s. Commissioned Regular Air Force 1947, He served in many rolls in the Research and Development Commands and the Air Staff retiring 1970. His decorations includes: Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with OLC, Air medal with OLC, Purple Heart, Army and Air Force Commendation Medals, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with six OLC, F Outstanding Unit Award, WWII Victory Medal, national Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star.
