    Dr. Erickson spent most of his professional career at NASA Ames Research Center, home of the World’s only Airborne Astronomy Program. As the Facility Scientist for the Kuiper Airborne Observatory (KAO) and the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA). Dr. Erickson’s efforts were a substantial contribution to the development of threes unique astronomical observatories. He also developed state-of-the-art instrumentation for infrared observations from airborne telescopes and made and/or enabled a number of pioneering measurements from the KAO and its predecessor, NASA’s Learjet Observatory.
