    Dr. Alexander served as a flight surgeon during the last months of World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He served on Okinawa, Saipan, and Tinian. He finished his Army Air Force tour of duty as acting Surgeon General for the 20th Air Force as part of the occupation forces on mainland Japan. He flew on various aircraft including C-46s, B-24s and B-29s. After the war he became a distinguished physician in Memphis, Tennessee. His last ten years of medical practice were at the Memphis Veterans Administration Hospital. He died 6/24/2000.
