For more than 38 years, Dr. John Vesel enjoyed a productive career as Senior Staff Physicist at Redwire Space, formerly Adcole Corporation. He served as technical lead on a number of advanced Sun Sensor products used for spacecraft attitude control, instrument pointing, sun staring, and sun avoidance functions. Over the years his work in optics design, precise mechanism design and mechanical analysis, thermal design and control, and expertise in electro-optical components proved to be critical on a number of significant spacecraft programs. These programs include Milstar, GPS, ISO, SOHO, SXI, New Horizons (formerly PKBM), and Parker Solar Probe, as well as many others.
Dr. Vesel holds Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Physics, including a Ph.D from the University of Waterloo, where his thesis was a study of the Raman effect in solid forms of Hydrogen halides. Prior to his work at Redwire/Adcole, he worked at several other technical firms including Electronics Corporation of America (ECA), and Galileo Electro Optics Corp.
