    "Bob" Bateman retired as a Corporate Vice President for the Boeing Company in June 1988. His prior assignment was Vice President, General Manager of Boeing Marine Systems, a Division that produced 43 hydrofoil craft for research, military and commercial use.

    Bob graduated from Purdue University in 1946. At Boeing he assisted in the development of the B-52, Boeing 707, and the Lunor Rover. He served as General Manager of the Turbine Division and later the Systems Division. In 1967 he led the effort to expedite the building of the 747 prototype and in 1971 he was named Vice President of the Boeing Washington, DC office.

    Bob has received many honors for his volunteer work in more than a dozen organizations promoting national security, fostering higher education and preserving our aerospace heritage. As such he served as Chairman of the Board of the Museum of Flight in Seattle and he has received an Honorary Doctor of Engineering from Purdue University.
