    During his 24 year aviation career Col. Wallace Flew PT-19, BT-13, AT-6, P-47, P-51, P-80, C-45 & T-38 Military aircraft

    Col. Wallace was inducted into the Army at Fort Leavenworth KA and received Basic Training in Coastal Artillery at Camp Callan near La Jolla CA. After training he was assigned to Fort Worden WA in October 1941 with duty to operate 12 inch artillery battery until he was transferred to the US Air Corp.

    Cadet Wallace started Pilot training in August 1942 at the Cadet Center San Antonio TX (which later became Lackland AFB). He received primary training at Hicks Field near Fort Worth TX, Basic Training at the Army Air Field in Waco TX and Advanced Pilot training at Foster Field near Victoria TX. Col. Wallace was award his wings and given Pilot Status in June 1943. Due to his exemplary skills as a pilot he remained at Foster Field as Instructor Pilot and Member of Standardization Board until October 1945 when the entire school was transferred to Williams AFB AZ. In September 1946 he was assigned overseas duty as a pilot in the 16th Fighter Squadron, 51st Fighter wing, US air field on Okinawa Japan. He returned to USA in May 1946 to be stationed at Williams Air Field. He received commission in Regular Army Air Corp August 1947. He was assigned to complete his BA in Math from Kansas State University and graduated August 1949. After graduation Col. Wallace received specialized military training in Electronics, Nuclear Physics & Nuclear weapons. His resulting assignments were staff positions concerned with deployment of Nuclear weapons. His expertise lead to involvement formulating the supporting analysis and policy decisions that were the basis of the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT). The SALT negotiations lasted from November 1969 to May 1972 and focused on USA & USSR agreement to freeze their nuclear arsenals and ultimately lead to the STrategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) signed in 1991.
