Mr. Edgar J. Mason was a B-17 Navigator in WWII and flew numerous combat missions over Germany. Mr. Mason was the father of my best friend. He recently passed away at the age of 85, and I knew him most of my life. Mr. Mason would tell me stories of his missions and experiences as a young crewman in a B-17 over the skies of Germany. Mr. Mason was awarded the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters. He was also awarded the Bronze Star six times.
