    Honored by:
    Mr. Peter Eggena

Ferdinand Eggena (1881-1947) was born in Bremen, Germany. At an early age he moved with his family to New Jersey. On a wager with friends at the Princeton Club in New York that he could obtain an aviator license in two weeks, he entered the Wright Aviation School in Dayton, Ohio, on June 21, 1915. Five days later he received his pilot’s license, setting a record, according to the Aerial Age Weekly (pp 400 & 405, July 12, 1915).

Ferdinand Eggena’s contributions to early aviation were recognized by the inclusion of his name on the monument to Pioneer Flyers at Wright Brothers Field in Dayton, Ohio.

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
