I was flying with the 95th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force in England. My position was Ball Turret Gunner! I was on my last mission (25) on my 20th birthday and was shot down by German fighters on March 6th, 1944. Spent 14 months in Nazi concentration camps Stalag Luft IV and VI. Was on forced march from February 5, 1945 until May 5, 1945; marched 640 miles; slept out in 15% zero weather.

Under the provisions of Army regulations 900-45, 9 August 1932, as amended, and pursuant to authority sustained in Section I, circular 36, Hq. 5 April, 1943, Hq. EAMETO Air Force, 20 September, 1943.
Subject awards and decorations, the DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS is awarded to the following officers and enlisted men for extraordinary achievement as set forth in citations. These individuals have previously earned the AIR MEDAL and three OAK LEAF CLUSTERS
FRANK C. BACA, 18120788, Staff Sergeant, 336th Bombardment Squadron, CH), Army Air Forces, United States Army. For extraordinary achievement, while serving as Ball Turret-Gunner of fifteen bombardment missions over enemy occupied Continental Europe. Displaying great courage and skill, Sergeant Baca, fighting from his gun position has destroyed two enemy airplanes, warded off many enemy attacks and has materially aided in the success of each of the fifteen missions. The courage, coolness, and skill displayed by Sergeant Baca on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
