    Donald Miller

Frank Strand lived 1917-2006. He is survived by his wife Pauline Strand, son Frank Strand Jr., step-daughters Melanie Strand and Laurel Perry, sons-in-law Donald Miller and James Perry. Born in Arizona and raised in California, he lived a poor though adventurous life and lived to make his own way in the world. He worked for McDonnell-Douglas from 1935-1944 as a production line worker building aircraft such as the DC-2, DC-3 and DC-4. He served in the Merchant Marine on board the Nancy Hanks as an Able Bodied Seaman 1944 and 1945 making and serving meals for 160 men in the Pacific Ocean. Frank worked for North American which later became Rockwell in the Rocketdyne division from 1947-1982, first as a sheet metal worker gradually advancing to work as a project manager with liquid fuel rocket engines. He then retired happily to Grants Pass, Oregon. His ashes now lay in the Veteran's cemetery at Eagle Point, Oregon.
