    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Mark A. Starkey

I worked as the facilities QC Manager with the team that built the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. For years, my children served as unofficial tour guides, for family and friends, at NASM, and modeled dozens of planes that the Center will house, with emphasis on those flown by my father, H.G. (Pappy) Lomax, AD1, USN, a retired A6, P2, P5M, and Super Constellation flight engineer. The first plane I flew is represented in the collection. My Uncle Ed Carver an enthusiastic CAP pilot taught me to fly a Piper Cub, and often let me fly his Cub, when I was a preteen. A retired naval weapons officer, I loaded and flew in carrier aircraft, naval transports, and the USAEC DC-3 that transported Nuclear Emergency Team members to the Nevada test sites, and other exercise areas. Both those old airmen have passed away, but I feel sure they are looking over our shoulders, with the same pride each of us feels, as the planes come home to America’s Hangar.
