Wall of Honor Level: Air and Space Friend
Honored by:
Enlisted Army Air Corps, June 1943. Went to basic at Shepard Field, TX. Eventually went to bombardier school at Victorville, CA and graduated as Flight Officer in class 44-13.
Went to Alamagordo, NM for B-29 OTU and departed for overseas duty late in March 1945. Assigned as a replacement crew on Tinian Island in the 398th Squadron, 504th Bomb Group, 313th Wing. Our crew flew 26 missions from Tinian to Japan. We bombed and also carried mines for the Navy.
