A missionary and minister was his vocation but flying was his passion.
He served his country during World War II as a B-29 mechanic.
He donated his first plane, a Luscombe, to the local college, Bradley University, to start a flying club. The school now has twenty planes.
His passion for flying has been maintained by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
