    Harold Meyer began his distinguished military career in November 1949 in the Army National Guard. From 1951 to 1955, he served as aircraft crew chief and mechanic in the United States Navy Air Force on the aircraft carrier AD-Skyraider. From 1957 to 1973, Harold instructed both enlisted personnel and officers on environmental systems of various aircraft. These various aircraft included the B-58, C-141, C-133, C-5, F-4, F-100, F-105, F-106 and AC-130. From May 1969 to May 1970, Harold was awarded the distinguished Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service in which his exceptional performance, mechanical ability, technical knowledge and professional leadership under adverse working conditions played a vital role in completing the mission of the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing of the Aerospace Systems Branch, Maintenance Squadron at Ubon Airfield, Thailand.

    He retired from the Air Force in 1973 as Master Sergeant. For the next 13 years, he focused on applying the valuable knowledge he had gained in the military on young adults in the public school system by teaching courses in residential and light commercial refrigeration and air conditioning, heating systems in the vocational-technical arena. In 1986, he decided to go back into the aviation industry and began working at Flight Safety International in Houston, Texas as a corporate aircraft ground school instructor. For the past 52 years, Harold's dedication, expert instruction, and strong commitment have played an integral role in the lives of many people and in the aviation industry.
