Graduated from cadet pilot training program in class 45A as a B-25 pilot. Served in the Air Corps Reserve 1945-1949.

Graduated University of California at Berkeley with BSc 1948, MS 1950 in Electrical Engineering.

Employed at Hughes Aircraft 1949-1988.
- Part of test group developing the first celestial supervised inertial navigation system in a B-26 test aircraft.
- Worked on airborne radars for many Air Force and Navy fighters and interceptors.
- Worked on several space programs including the first soft lander on the Moon (Surveyor), various satellites, and deep space spacecraft.
- Led the team that won the first solar car race across Australia.
